Monthly Favourites: August

I don’t know about you guys but I had a divine month! I shopped up a storm, took advantage of every sale and now I am ready to live through September like a pauper! My August favourites have a great mix of makeup, skincare and extra bits and pieces.

Poetry Oudh Candle 290g – R199.00

I have been eyeing this little guy for months, and recently it was part of Poetry’s 30% sale on … scented things, like diffusers and candles. This oudh fragrance is sugary and spicy, but not sickly sweet.

The little jar the candle comes in is also gorgeous, and looks great on my desk. I’m thinking of going back and getting the Avo and Cucumber variation too… maybe it will be a late August favourite?

Pink Cosmetics Solid Brush Cleanser – R160.00

Ugh, this is a lifesaver. Cleaning my makeup brushes is a real chore, and anything that can make the experience less painful is worth its weight in gold and an immediate favourite!

I did a little rundown of the products Pink Cosmetics sent me in early August, of which this was one, you can check the article out here (it includes a 10% discount code). This item was my favourite of the bunch, and for R160.00 it’s an absolute bargain.

Cleaning brushes is crucial in keeping your makeup perfect and your skin clear from impurities that may cause breakouts. Giving them a deep clean at LEAST once a month is recommended.

Beauty Basics Microfibre Cloth – R49.00

This cloth has become my go-to way to take off my makeup in the evening. You can use it as is after wetting in warm water. No soap, no makeup remover required. I first rub everything off of my skin and then use the cloth as a facecloth/sponge with my cleanser.

The microfiber cloth is incredibly soft and dries in no time. It’s made getting into the habit of properly washing my face every night a breeze.

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Lite – R395.00 (for the set of 6 minis)

When I bought a little collection of Benefit powders to try earlier this month, Hoola Lite was actually the one I was least enthusiastic about. The ‘bronzer’ looks yellow in the pan, and I really didn’t think it would look good on my pale skin, but its proved to be the perfect product to add warmth to my face without looking overly chiselled, an absolute favourite!

Benefit blushes and bronzers can be quite pricey (R415.00 for an 8g pan), but if you’re smart with when and what you buy, you are able to get little collections for much less than the value of the items inside.

Woolworths Vanilla Chai Tea

August saw me enjoying a large amount of tea, and I think 99% of the cups were vanilla chai. Woolworths makes this delicious, spicy, warm and indulgent vanilla chai that I could drink all day. It’s so good, even my four year old niece loves it!

What did your August hold? Were there any products that really stood out to you? Let me know in the comments below or drop me a DM on Instagam.
